Strengthening Collaboration & Leadership Across an Academic Medical Center’s Clinic Network

Strengthening Collaboration & Leadership Across an Academic Medical Center’s Clinic Network admin January 17, 2026 Blog A network of MD clinics affiliated with a major academic medical center was experiencing strained communication, siloed relationships, and a growing sense of diminished value among teams. The complexity of the clinical–academic partnership created gaps in trust, alignment, and psychological safety—impacting morale and collaboration. Leadership sought The HIVE’s support to rebuild connection and establish a healthier, more unified culture. Our Approach Through ongoing work with the C-Suite, Chief of Staff, and Human Resources, TheHIVE provided coaching, strategic guidance, and the design and facilitation of twofull-day interdisciplinary workshops. These sessions brought together leaders from across the clinics to:● Break down communication silos● Rebuild trust and mend strained relationships● Establish psychological safety and shared expectations● Navigate difficult conversations about past challenges● Prepare for the transition to a new leadership structure● Explore opportunities for innovation and future-focused improvementEach workshop created space for honest dialogue and collaborativeproblem-solving—laying the foundation for healthier team dynamics. Who It Serves The workshops included an interdisciplinary group of clinic leaders, physicians, supervisors, and administrative partners whose roles directly impact daily operations, culture, and patient care. Designing a Statewide Leadership Pathway for Emergency MedicineTeams

A statewide organization of free-standing emergency rooms needed a unified, advanced leadership pathway for both clinical and non-clinical teams. Leaders across facilities were operating without a shared framework for communication, quality improvement, systems thinking, or sustainable change—limiting efficiency and slowing organizational progress. The C-Suite brought in The HIVE to develop a customized solution built specifically for the fast-paced, high-stakes environment of emergency medicine. Our Approach Working closely with executives, we designed a comprehensive Advanced LeadershipDevelopment Program covering:● Relational and human-centered leadership● Quality improvement and system-failure analysis● Strategies for implementing and sustaining change● Structural alignment across a complex organizationThe program is intentionally built to be sustainable: leaders learn to deliver the contentthemselves, with ongoing support from a HIVE expert (“a bee from our HIVE”) to guideimplementation.A pilot group of 18 key stakeholders participated in the first cohort, offering monthlyfeedback to ensure the program truly matched the organization’s needs and culture. Who It Serves While the pilot includes 18 leaders, the program is positioned to benefit:● Leaders at every facility across the statewide network● The clinical and non-clinical teams they support● Systemwide operations and patient experience Projected Impact Although the program is still in progress, the anticipated outcomes include:Time SavingsMore efficient communication, faster decision-making, clearer leadership expectations, and reduced onboarding time for new leaders.Financial SavingsDecreased turnover, fewer system-related errors, stronger quality-improvementpractices, and improved staff engagement—all reducing preventable operational costs.Organizational StrengtheningA unified leadership framework, improved cross-facility collaboration, deeper alignmentto system goals, and a sustainable internal training model that will continue beyond thepilot.
