A statewide organization of free-standing emergency rooms needed a unified, advanced leadership pathway for both clinical and non-clinical teams. Leaders across facilities were operating without a shared framework for communication, quality improvement, systems thinking, or sustainable change—limiting efficiency and slowing organizational progress. The C-Suite brought in The HIVE to develop a customized solution built specifically for the fast-paced, high-stakes environment of emergency medicine.
Our Approach
Working closely with executives, we designed a comprehensive Advanced Leadership
Development Program covering:
● Relational and human-centered leadership
● Quality improvement and system-failure analysis
● Strategies for implementing and sustaining change
● Structural alignment across a complex organization
The program is intentionally built to be sustainable: leaders learn to deliver the content
themselves, with ongoing support from a HIVE expert (“a bee from our HIVE”) to guide
implementation.
A pilot group of 18 key stakeholders participated in the first cohort, offering monthly
feedback to ensure the program truly matched the organization’s needs and culture.
Who It Serves
While the pilot includes 18 leaders, the program is positioned to benefit:
● Leaders at every facility across the statewide network
● The clinical and non-clinical teams they support
● Systemwide operations and patient experience
Projected Impact
Although the program is still in progress, the anticipated outcomes include:
Time Savings
More efficient communication, faster decision-making, clearer leadership expectations,
and reduced onboarding time for new leaders.
Financial Savings
Decreased turnover, fewer system-related errors, stronger quality-improvement
practices, and improved staff engagement—all reducing preventable operational costs.
Organizational Strengthening
A unified leadership framework, improved cross-facility collaboration, deeper alignment
to system goals, and a sustainable internal training model that will continue beyond the
pilot.
